Shawn Dheensaw
Dheensaw had served as a member of Basketball BC’s board for more than 10 years and since May 2022 as the provincial sport organization’s executive director. In addition to his contributions to the development of basketball in the province, Dheensaw has an extensive background in finance, human resource, and project management through over 35 years of service with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Both of Shawn’s daughters went on to play post-secondary basketball at Washington State University and University of Victoria, respectively.
Teresa Gabriele
Gabriele is one of BC’s most decorated basketball players ever. She was a two-time All-American at Simon Fraser University during their tenure in the NAIA, and was also a two-time U SPORTS (formerly known as CIS) All-Canadian during her final two seasons – the latter of which culiminated in an undefeated record and a national championship.
Gabriele donned the red and white at the Olympics in 2000 and 2012 as an integral part of Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team and continues to hold SFU’s all-time single game scoring record with 45 points in 2002.
Charles Hethey
Hethey is a partner at O’Neill Law LLP. Specializing in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and securities law, his clients range across a variety of industries. Hethey's jurisdictions include the Law Society of British Columbia (2007) and New York State Bar Association (2008).
Dylan Kular
Born and raised in Abbotsford, Kular is a leader in British Columbia’s basketball community. Prior to his current role as President of the Vancouver Bandits, Kular co-founded the Abbotsford Basketball Association, a not-for-profit and low barrier to entry basketball program that provided grassroots opportunities for youth in the City of Abbotsford to play basketball and participate in various levels of programming. Kular currently sits on the basketball committee for the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (I·SPARC).
Kular joined the Bandits in the summer of 2018 as the club’s director of operations to help launch one of the CEBL’s inaugural six founding clubs. Since then, he has served as the club’s team president since 2021 and has spearheaded several of the club’s notable achievements; including the launch of the TELUS Bandits Athletic Centre and BC Basketball Festival, and relocating the club to Langley Events Centre.
Peter Natrall
Born and raised in North Vancouver, Natrall is proud to carry his ancestral name Sxw’alhkin, which was gifted to him by his late grandparents. He is currently the Vancouver Coastal Regional Sport and Physical Activity Coordinator for the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (I·SPARC).
A veteran of the province’s lacrosse scene for more than 25 years, Sxw’alhkin (Pete) has been involved in sports his entire life. He was the general manager of the Squamish Nation Shapeshifters Men’s master’s Traveling Lacrosse team.
An advocate of living a life of sport, Natrall has extensive experience working with First Nation communities and organizations; including Tewanee Consulting Group, the Four Host First Nation Secretariat, Squamish Nation, the First Nation Snowboard Team, the First Nations Health Council.
Kim Smith Gaucher
A three-time Olympian (three times as a player), Gaucher is currently the head coach of Canada’s 3x3 Women’s National Team. Growing up in Mission, B.C., Gaucher won three provincial championship at Heritage Park Secondary School before attending the University of Utah, where her stellar post-secondary career paved the way for her to eventually be drafted to the WNBA and to be the first woman to have her jersey retired in Utah Utes history.
Gaucher competed as a player at the 2012 London, 2016 Rio de Janeiro and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and has since transitioned to coaching, helping Canada qualify and earn a fourth place finish in the 3x3 Women’s Basketball category at the recent 2024 Paris Olympic Games
Lucky Toor
A business advisory, real estate, tax planning and corporate reorganization specialist, Toor boasts more than two decades of experience in BC’s accounting sector. Toor worked for a number of different firms in the Lower Mainland before he co-founded TGL Group Chartered Professional Accountants LLP in 2007 which is a community leading CPA firm in South Surrey, BC.
Toor is a prominent member of BC’s basketball landscape having been a long time club coach with AthElite Basketball. Through his years of service as a community coach in North Delta, where he has coached youth soccer and currently coaches high school basketball, Toor has built a reputation as a passionate member of the province’s youth sports ecosystem. He coached Seaquam Secondary’s junior and senior girls teams to provincial championships in 2022 and 2024, respectively, and continues to be involved in the local community.
